Ideally, be within 10 kg of your goal weight and stable there for 6 months. Surgery on a body that is still actively changing yields short-lived results. If you're 20–40 kg overweight, lose first, then we contour what remain
2. Can I still have more children after a tummy tuck?
Medically, yes — a tummy tuck doesn't affect fertility or pregnancy safety. Aesthetically, another pregnancy will stretch the abdomen again and may undo the tightening. Most surgeons (and I) recommend you finish childbearing first, or accept that you may need a revision later.
3. Will insurance cover any of this?
Most cosmetic body contouring is not covered. Exceptions: panniculectomy (CPT 15830) for massive overhanging skin with documented infections; diastasis recti repair if functionally significant; gynecomastia surgery in men (separate page). We help with documentation when there's a legitimate medical necessity case.
4. Will my scar be visible in a sari blouse or a low-cut top?
Tummy tuck scars are placed low — below the bikini/petticoat line. They won't show in a sari, in jeans, or in most swimsuits. Breast lift scars are around the areola and (sometimes) vertically down — invisible in any neckline that doesn't expose the nipple. Arm lift scars are along the inner arm — visible only when arms are raised. We discuss your wardrobe at the planning stage.
5. Is body contouring safe for women over 50?
Yes — with caveats. Age itself is not a contraindication. What matters is cardiovascular health, lung function, diabetes control, and skin quality. I have operated on women in their 60s with excellent results. I have also said "no, not now" to women in their 30s with uncontrolled health issues. Health, not age.
