They are getting ready in the morning — a saree blouse buttoned up, or a kurta collar straightened, or a shirt tucked in. They look up. And they see the neck. I have been doing plastic surgery for over fifteen years. I finished my M.Ch. at Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi with an All India Rank 2, and I have been operating here in Vijayawada since 2015. Is breast augmentation painful?
Most patients describe day one as a tight, heavy feeling, a 3 or 4 out of 10, not sharp pain. With the PECS nerve block we do, almost nobody wakes up in serious pain. By day four most patients are off the strong painkillers. The recovery is more about discomfort and restriction than about pain.
When can I go back to work?
Desk work: 5 to 7 days. Physically demanding work: 4 to 6 weeks. We give you a fitness certificate.
Will my breasts look fake after augmentation?
Not if the size and pocket are chosen correctly. The "fake" look almost always comes from too-large implants on too-small a frame, or implants placed over a sagging breast that should have had a lift. With a correctly sized smooth round implant in a dual-plane pocket on the right candidate, almost nobody can tell.
Will I lose nipple sensation?
|Most patients have temporary numbness that comes back over 3 to 6 months. Permanent loss happens in roughly 10 to 15 per cent of patients. We discuss this in detail with you in person because the risk varies depending on the incision and implant size you choose.
Can I breastfeed afterwards?
In most cases yes, especially with an inframammary fold incision. Tell me if breastfeeding is important to you and we plan around it
How long do implants last?
15 to 20 years for most patients. Some patients keep them 25 to 30 years with no issue. We replace only when there is a reason.
Are implants safe?
Modern smooth silicone implants from reputable brands have a strong safety profile. The risks (capsular contracture, rupture, BIA-ALCL in textured implants) are real but uncommon. With a proper surgeon, OT, and follow-up, it is one of the most predictable cosmetic operations in the world.
Can I get a mammogram with implants?
Yes. Always tell the radiologist you have implants so they use the Eklund displacement technique. Continue routine screening for your age.
What if I do not like the size after surgery?
Rare when we plan carefully with sizers and simulation, but possible. If you genuinely cannot live with the result, a revision is possible. We talk about revision policy clearly at the consultation before you ever sign anything.
