The Flap and Alloplant techniques are designed to be durable — they hold until first intercourse and beyond if intercourse does not occur for months or years. Simple Suturing is, by design, more temporary — it's intended to behave naturally on first intercourse and "release" then. Dr. Pratap will recommend the technique that fits your timeline.
2. Will my husband or future partner be able to tell I had the surgery?
A correctly performed hymenoplasty leaves no externally visible scar. Even a trained gynaecologist, without a history, would typically not be able to distinguish a healed hymenoplasty from a natural hymen on examination. The reconstructed tissue behaves on first intercourse the way natural hymenal tissue does.
3. How soon before my wedding should I get hymenoplasty done?
Ideal: 6–8 weeks. Bare minimum: 3 weeks (with the Simple Suturing technique). If your wedding is less than 3 weeks away, please contact us immediately — we will tell you honestly whether it is still feasible or whether it is better to wait.
4. Is the procedure painful?
During: no. The area is fully anaesthetised. After: mild soreness for 2–3 days, controlled by simple paracetamol. The vast majority of our patients describe it as significantly less painful than they expected.
5. Can hymenoplasty be done if my hymen was torn from non-sexual reasons like sports or a tampon?
Yes — entirely. In fact, this is one of the most common reasons women come to us. The cause of the tear is medically irrelevant. The surgery restores the membrane regardless.
6. Will hymenoplasty affect my menstruation, future pregnancy, or childbirth?
No, in all three. Once fully healed (6 weeks), the reconstructed hymen does not affect menstrual flow, fertility, conception, pregnancy, vaginal delivery, or any future gynaecological care.
7. Can I have hymenoplasty if I'm not married, or if I'm already married?
Yes, in both cases. There is no marital prerequisite for the surgery. Some patients have it for personal reasons unrelated to a wedding; some married women choose it as a personal restoration. The choice is entirely yours.
8. What if I run into someone I know at the hospital?
Pratap Hospital has a separate private entrance for sensitive procedures, a private waiting area, a single-occupancy recovery bay, and trained staff who follow strict no-disclosure protocols. The probability of running into someone you know is minimised by design. If it does happen, our staff are trained to redirect without explanation.
9. Can I get hymenoplasty without my parents knowing, if I am above 18?
Yes. If you are 18 or older, you have the full legal right to make this decision and we are not required to inform anyone. We do not contact parents, spouses, or any family member without your written consent.
10. Can it be re-done if the first surgery doesn't give the desired result?
Yes. Revision hymenoplasty is possible and we have done it for patients whose first surgery elsewhere did not produce the desired result. The revision is typically a Flap Technique, scheduled at least 3 months after the original surgery to allow full healing.
